Training to Help Stop Hate Crime
In April 2007 Coast 2 Coast and Inclusion North were asked by the Valuing People Support Team to find out what is happening around the country about Hate Crime against people with learning disabilities.
This was done to support the successful Stamp Out Hate Crime campaign launched by the National Forum for people with Learning Disabilities. All Hate Crime is bad and some of it leads to very serious incidents, even death for some people.
We collected the information together in a pack called the Good Practice Guide, the guide tells you about the work people are doing around Hate Crime across England.
We also created a training pack with Better Days a Self Advocacy Group based in Newcastle, we called the The Learning Together Training Pack and it tells people about disability Hate Crime and can be used to train people to understand that Hate Crimes against people with learning disabilities are important and should be taken very seriously.
The Learning Together training pack and good practice guide were funded by the Home Office.
Inclusion North together with groups of people with learning disabilites are offering free training to our member areas on Hate Crime.
You can find both the guide and the training pack on our useful documents section.
There is a DVD to go with the Training Pack and if you would like a copy then please contact our office on 0113 262 6409.
